Panama Visa Run

Our 90-day tourist visit for Costa Rica was expiring and the renewal process consists of leaving the country for 72 hours and then coming back in to get a new 90-day stamp. So we were forced to take a beach vacation in Bocas del Toro, Panama. The town itself is very touristy and expensive (by Central American standards) but there are beautiful, empty beaches a short bus ride or ferry ride away. We also splurged on a fancy hotel where we could catch up on internet tasks while sipping on wine and watching the sailboats go by. We spent more money during this 6-day journey than the entire previous month of living in the countryside, but it was a nice treat.
